Ferrous Sulphate Heptahydrate (FeSO₄·7H₂O) is a highly effective chemical used in wastewater treatment
for
coagulation, reduction, and heavy metal removal. It is widely applied in municipal and industrial
treatment
plants to improve water quality by removing suspended solids, phosphates, and toxic contaminants.
When added to wastewater, it reacts with fine suspended particles and dissolved impurities, forming
larger
flocs that settle quickly in clarifiers or can be easily removed through filtration. This process
significantly
reduces turbidity and enhances the overall efficiency of the treatment system.
Ferrous Sulphate is also an excellent phosphorus removal agent. It reacts with phosphate ions to form
insoluble

Sulphate converts the highly toxic Crâ¶âº into the safer trivalent chromium (Cr³âº), which can then be
precipitated and removed through conventional treatment processes.
